Climate Action Plan
At Winnersh Primary, we believe that every member of our school community has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan sets out how we will reduce our environmental impact, improve our school environment, and empower our pupils to become responsible global citizens.
This page will outline the actions we are taking to address climate change, including reducing our energy use, cutting waste, enhancing biodiversity, promoting sustainable travel, and integrating environmental learning across the curriculum. It will also highlight how pupils, staff, families and the wider community can work together to make a positive difference.
Our Climate Action Plan is a living document that will evolve as we learn, grow and achieve our sustainability goals. By taking action today, we are helping to build a greener, healthier and more resilient future for generations to come.
We have recently signed up to the Let's Go Zero Campaign and will start working with a Climate Advisor in the coming months to review our Action Plan.
We will be working with the School Council and any other children who want to get involved to form a Climate Action Group. We have already started with some fantastic posters designed by School Council being displayed in all the classrooms.

Winnersh Primary Takes Bold Step Towards Sustainability with Let’s Go Zero Campaign
Winnersh Primary is proud to announce it has joined the national Let’s Go Zero campaign to become a zero-carbon school by 2030.
With the support of a dedicated Climate Action Advisor, the school is developing a climate action plan to cut emissions, engage students, and support local sustainability goals.
Let’s Go Zero is a campaign brought to you by Ashden, uniting one in five schools in the UK to take climate action. Backed by 22 leading organisations, it supports schools with tools, funding guidance, and expertise.
“Becoming a zero-carbon school isn’t just about our environmental impact,” said Mrs Davies. “It’s about preparing our students for a sustainable future, creating healthier learning environments, and showing leadership in our community.”
Head of Let’s Go Zero, Alex Green, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Winnersh Primary to the Let’s Go Zero campaign. Every school that joins brings us one step closer to a zero-carbon future. Students, staff, and communities are showing what’s possible when we work together for climate action. By signing up, Winnersh Primary is sending a powerful message of hope and leadership—showing that schools can be a force for change, for our planet and future generations.”
