Year 3

We have two classes: Ruby and Carnelian.

Our teachers are Mrs Simpson (Ruby Class) and Mrs Basher (Carnelian Class).

Our learning support assistants are Mrs Jadav, Mrs Vaessen and Mrs Armstrong.

Mrs Jadav and the Get Active Sports team cover the Year 3 PPA on a Thursday afternoon.

Children develop both academically and emotionally at different rates, and for many, the move from infants (Key Stage 1) to juniors (Key Stage 2) can be a significant adjustment.  To aid with a smoother transition, at Winnersh Primary, the Year 3 children remain as part of the Lower Phase Team whilst they begin working on the Key Stage 2 curriculum.  As the year progresses, the children will learn how to become independent, resilient learners in preparation for their move into the Upper Phase.

Children who have reached the expected level, will be allowed to change their own reading books.  We kindly ask that their reading record books are signed at least three times a week by an adult at home.

Physical education (PE) is taught on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. On these days, your child should come to school wearing their PE kit.

The children are given homework on Fridays and this is set on Google Classroom. They need to complete the tasks set by the following Wednesday. Most parents upload images of completed work.

If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher.
